For someone who insists is no fan of books, I have to say, Stephen Colbert makes an excellent author. This book is a true extension of his character from his show The Colbert Report (pronounced Colber Repor); Stephen is no fan of facts, therefore he made sure not to include any in his book. He is well intentioned but poorly informed, and as always full of opinions.
Of course, 30 minutes a day, four days a week is not nearly enough time for a man so full of opinions as Stephen to share them with everybody, which is why now, you can fill the other 23 hours and 30 minutes of your day by reading his book. In fact now that he is in the running for a presidential nomination as a "Favorite Son" in South Carolina the importance of reading this book has dramatically increased.
Now you wont be reading just another news pundit's random book; you'll be reading a potential presidential nominee of South Carolina! And for those of us unfortunate ones who don't live in South Carolina, no worries there, if the author of this book is all that you seek in a president just vote for him as a write-in in the primary.
Much like the show, the book takes a satirical look at all the news pundits and the books they've written. It includes everything from relationship advice and religious pointers to tips about pet adoptions and your dietary needs! It even helps you figure out which movies/books/CDs/TV shows are ruining America now and how to stop Hollywood from destroying the country. It also holds nine stickers to nominate books for the prestigious Stephen T. Colbert Award for Literary Excellence, in case you happen to come across a special book that has gone the extra mile to bring this country to ruin (hint: Ann Coulter's latest work).
And if all that is not enough for you, it has an additional full-page instructions on how to read this book, and at the end, fully illustrated and captioned instructions on how to retire after reading. You could almost say this book is the complete package. After all the review on the back cover of the book does say: "I laughed, I cried, I lost fifteen pounds. I can not recommend this book highly enough!"…Or so Stephen Colbert says!
