As soon as I arrived at the headquarters for Cody Ledvina and Brian Rod's cooperative art project, one of the guys immediately asked me "Would you like a beer?"
Female vocals reigned supreme at the Rilo Kiley show at Warehouse Live on Oct. 5. Frontwoman Jenny Lewis - the indie-rock princess of child-star fame - was preceded by Orenda Fink of Art in Manila and Kristin Gundred of Grand Ole Party, both of whom would join Lewis later singing back-up vocals and playing a variety of fringe instruments.
David Landry is a self-proclaimed "renaissance man." A musician, actor, writer and filmmaker, Landry involves himself in the arts in any way possible. Landry was one of the original founders of the University's FAM Fest, as well as the D. Landry Show, which was named for him.
Some things are just sacred. As a Beatles fan, I hate when individuals - or even worse, retail giants - take it upon themselves to improve on what is already classic. As many have done before her, director Julie Taymor treads on well-worn ground with her musical love story, "Across the Universe."
