A sequel is always a risky proposition. An original movie's freshness and creativity has a pretty short half-life, rarely surviving a second incarnation-let alone a third. Still, I entered "Spiderman III" with high hopes. It's a blockbuster about a superhero. How hard could it be?

Rogers infuses subconscious images into paintings at local gallery

The first thing I noticed about artist Kelly Rogers as she walked into Taft Street Coffee was that her shirt, like the paintings in her exhibition, was covered in birds. As we sat on the floor in the open area of the adjacent Xnihilo Gallery and sipped our soy lattes, Rogers' eyes would occasionally wander and her voice would trail off as she fell into the memories of her work.

Cupcakes not just for kids

They are the stuff that childhoods are made of, but until recently, cupcakes had little place in the adult world. Now shops are selling these fist-sized delicacies all over Houston. With sophisticated flavors like Boston Cream and Strawberry Shortcake, cupcakes are back.
