Hundreds of students, faculty and alumni filled the Chapel of St. Basil beyond its capacity on Feb. 3 to mourn the death and commemorate the life of Dean Janice Gordon-Kelter. Gordon-Kelter unexpectedly died of cardiac arrest Jan. 6 while vacationing in Paris with her husband Irving Kelter. She was 60.
After trying his first Adderall pill in March of 2005, senior political science major Matthew set out to get his own prescription two months later. "The first time I took it was amazing," said Matthew, whose name has been changed at his request. He said that he sat down with a copy of the phone directory and began looking for a random psychiatrist. After unsuccessfully calling two psychiatrists, the third asked him to come into her office for an evaluation. After circling random answers on a questionnaire, Matthew was handed a prescription for Adderall 25 minutes later.
The University announced in late January that undergraduate tuition would increase to $590 per credit hour starting August 2006. Graduate student tuition will increase to $660 per credit hour. Currently, tuition for undergraduates and graduates is $565 and $630 per credit hour respectively, increasing tuition by 4.42 percent for undergraduates and by 4.76 percent for graduate students.
